Acceptable use policy
Who Yardsign is for
Yardsign serves Democratic candidates and their committees, Democratic Party committees, and progressive campaigns and organizations. We may ask for information that confirms a campaign's eligibility, and we may decline accounts outside this focus.
What you can say
Your site is your campaign's voice. We don't edit your positions or your arguments, and robust criticism of opponents and public officials is fine. This policy is about conduct, not viewpoint.
What isn't allowed
- False or misleading information about when, where or how to vote, or about who is eligible to vote.
- Impersonating another candidate, campaign, official or organization, or a disclaimer that misstates who paid for the site.
- Threats, incitement to violence, or harassment of individuals.
- Content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation or gender identity.
- Publishing someone's private personal information to harm or intimidate them.
- Sexual content, or anything that exploits or endangers children.
- Material that infringes copyright, trademark or other rights, including photos you don't have permission to use.
- Malware, phishing, or attempts to break into or overload Yardsign or anyone else's systems.
- Collecting people's information without telling them how it will be used, or sending texts or email without the consent the law requires.
- Anything illegal, including violations of campaign finance law.
Enforcement
If we find content that breaks this policy, we may remove it, take the site offline or close the account. Where we reasonably can, we'll contact you first and give you a chance to fix it.
